About Mary
Freihofner
During her teen years Ms. Freihofner suffered with fairly
typical teen acne but by the age of 22 Ms. Freihofner began breaking out with
adult cystic acne. The medical community did not have much good information on
acne control and doctor’s prescriptions were not helping with some seeming to
make the acne even worse. Ms. Freihofner tried many products and treatments on
her own for years until age 28 when she
found a knowledgeable Esthetician while living in Florida. The Esthetician was able to clear
up her skin considerably with facial treatments, extractions of clogged pores
and the correct products to use at home. From that point on Ms. Freihofner
began to study skin care and acne control.
Five years later in 2000 Ms. Freihofner visited Philadelphia, fell in love with the city with it’s
historical architecture, river views and diverse culture and moved from Florida to Fishtown in Philadelphia. Immediately she enrolled at American Academy of Beauty to study Cosmetology
passing her state boards. Next she attended medical esthetics classes and
received certification in Medical Esthetics from Hylunia-Hy Med. Ms. Freihofner worked as an Esthetician in two
different spas but was unable to really practice skin care in the way she felt
was needed for her clients. Ms. Freihofner recognizes and believes in the
benefits of relaxing and pampering in the facial experience but she did not
want that to be the main component of her facials. She instead wanted the main
component to be to improve the health and quality of a persons skin. She also
felt that skin care was just too expensive. She recognized that not many people
can afford $85-$130 for a one hour facial and yet many truly benefit from them.
She saw that she would have to open her own shop to practice therapeutic and
affordable skin care. And so the vision began and five years later that unique
vision became a reality.
Ms. Freihofner is State Board Licensed in the State of PA, Medical Esthetics
Certified, Owner of Affordable Skin Care Salon and Acne Stop Skin Care, and
member of Allied Health Association. Ms.
Freihofner is consistent in attending conferences, reading about the newest
skin care information and is highly specialized in acne control and
prevention.
Ms. Freihofner feels
strongly about protecting the earth and recycling. All recyclable materials are
recycled and low carbon footprints are a goal with local purchasing when possible. Mainly organic and paraben free
products are used in all the facials.
